What’s on the bookshelf: Life, reviews and a giveaway

For those that I work with closely, you know how busy I’ve been, and I just wanted to start off by saying thank you to my clients. You guys are all fantastic, and I really do appreciate your patience while I’ve been managing so much over the last few months as well as the client referrals. It means a lot to me that you think so highly of me that you are willing to recommend me to other authors — so much in fact that I have something special planned for December for my indie authors — more details coming soon.

That being said, I wanted to give everyone an update as to where I’m at right now on a few fronts.

First, I was asked to return to fill in temporarily for a former coworker while she is on leave. For the past month I have been juggling a full-time job as well as the full-time freelance schedule. I plan on continuing to do both while I’m filling in for her, so please don’t think you can’t contact me to schedule something if you need to. I am booked through December, however, with everyone trying to finalize projects for the holidays. It’s going to be a great holiday release season!

Second, I have some books on my to-read pile that I agreed to read and review this summer. I want my authors (Jade, Amanda, Tania, and a few others) to know that you are still on my to-read pile, I just haven’t been able to sit down, read and write up the reviews for you. I have not forgotten you. I just tend to be a bit slow on that front since the freelance projects have priority over my pleasure reading/review projects.

Because of my schedule, I am not going to be accepting new read/reviews from authors until after the New Year at the earliest — later if I’m not caught up with my current pile. I get a steady stream of email, which I don’t even have time to respond to, and it isn’t that I am not interested, I just have a full workload at the moment. Also, please keep in mind that I prefer young/new adult novels. I don’t mind considering other genres; however, when my schedule is full, those have first consideration. Since I’m also getting a lot of authors just assuming that I’m going to automatically accept a book to read, I would encourage everyone to review the submission guidelines on my website.

Finally, starting Monday, Oct. 8, and running through Friday, Oct. 12, my blog and several others will be hosting a giveaway through rafflecopter of a copy of “Nandana’s Mark,” a new adult fantasy novel by indie author Heidi Garrett. (You can check out the links on the right-hand side of my website for more information on her and her first book.) If you are interested in helping with the giveaway or hosting the widget on your site, please shoot me an email at hdaniellecrabtree(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)gmail.com.

I am also planning a cover reveal for book 2 of the Queen of the Realm of Faerie series by Heidi Garrett for the end of October. If you’d be interested in helping with the cover reveal for “The Flower of Isbelline,” then also shoot me an email.
