This has been a rough week for me. I’ve been sick and haven’t gotten as much done on the rewrites as I would have liked, because I’ve had to focus on client projects in my limited time rather than living in my own fantasy world. However, I still wanted to give you guys another teaser for Fire Wolf Friday. So, here is another moment between Myah and Skye. I hope you enjoy it as much as I’m having fun writing. (Please forgive any typos. I’m currently editing for content and plot lines, not so much for typos.)

Fire Wolf (Fire & Reign)
“Myah, you know, about last summer …” Skye fumbled.
Her body stiffened. She really didn’t want to rehash the past. Her face flamed red. He had embarrassed her so horribly, made a fool out of her.
“Let’s not, Skye.”
“As you wish. But someday, I hope you’ll forgive me.”
“I did forgive you. I just don’t always trust your motives.”
“Not even after yesterday?”
She shrugged. “All yesterday proved is that I can trust you to continually lead me into trouble.”
“Then perhaps I’ll have to work harder to change that.”
“If you wish.” The words were but a whisper, and Myah bit her lip.
“I wish.” He leaned toward her again. His hand came up and the tips of his fingers traced her jawline back toward her ear, and then slipped a loose tendril of hair behind it.
She sucked in a breath. “I should go.”
“All right. I’ll see you at council tomorrow.”
“Bye,” she whispered, not daring to speak louder and risk betraying his effect upon her.
Myah kept her head down as she walked past him. She could feel his gaze upon her, making her body tingle. Just before she turned the corner in the garden maze, she stopped and stole a look over her shoulder. The soft look in his eyes made her heart skip a beat.
Slightly embarrassed at his scrutiny, she gave an awkward wave and disappeared around the turn before he could do or say anything to embarrass her.
