Poetry: Perceptions

I wrote this in response to a conversation with a friend of mine. I’ll spare the details, but the gist of it was that the world is not always how we perceive it. Everyone has a filter based on experiences and life, and we all take something different out similar circumstances. – Dani

Perceptions

Beware the face in the looking glass
The stranger before your eyes
The twister of dreams
Into drama and scenes
Until vacancy fills with pride

Beware the tangible truths of life
They reflect as if a mirror
Showing your future
And taking it away
In that absence only fear

Listen to the voice inside your head
The silencer of debate
The whisperer of paths
Still left unseen
Within courage we create
